State Fair Volunteering (Summer 2009, 2010, 2011, 2012)
Wow! What a great crew! 68 folks cleaning after the goats to raise money for MAST. Thank you to all athletes, siblings, cousins, parents, friends and strangers who pitched in on this most fragrant of fundraisers. Sounds like you set a new State Fair Goat Barn Cleaning record. Thank you and congratulations. On Saturday, August 28, 64 MAST skiers and their family members volunteered at the Minnesota State Fair to raise money for the organization. From 10 am to 10 pm our volunteers emptied garbage cans and picked up trash from the grounds in a designated section of the fair (including the Grandstand area and Martha's Cookies and the French Fry booths!)
In what our volunteer coordinator thinks may have been a Day Three all-time attendance record, we kept our "half" of the fair very clean. Sanitation coordinator David Gingold said he was personally complimented for how clean the streets were on such a busy day! We were invited back for "whenever we want to do this again." This puts us in line for more/different State Fair opportunities in the future. We got to reconnect a bit as a team as we prepare to rock Minnesota's ski world!
I don't think any of us will ever look at cigarette butts, sour milk or cups of beer the same way, again. Thanks to ALL for your hard work to support your team! Thanks also to Darryl Savage who organized this (believe it or not) fun event.
