MAST Update
Week Four Monday, December 5, 2022 Dear MAST Athletes, Parents, Coaches, Friends: We had another very productive week of training. We utilized many drills that sought to improve your stance and balance and the use of your lower legs to move your skis deliberately and smoothly on and off the edges. We also introduced drills that strengthen your position over your new outside ski in the transition, create strong edge angles at the top of the turn, and help you then pressure the outside ski as you approach the fall line. And we introduced some drills that helped you discipline your upper body to maintain a strong but quiet position over your outside ski as the turn progressed. This week we will continue to work these skills AND add drills that will teach you proper pole usage: planting and gate clearing. Exciting stuff. Listed at the end of this update are some links to a few excellent instructional videos on pole usage and a few other skills we have been covering in training. Also posted on Sprongo is a new batch of demonstration videos. Please watch these once your homework is done. Week Four Drills To Build The Skills On Sprongo.
