Hello again, MAST Family, The slopes just got a fresh coat of snow, and we're ready to carve it up! The forecast isn't the only thing looking promising – our team is gearing up for a big week of racing. With fresh powder beneath our skis and adrenaline in the air, it’s time to put our training to the test and show the competition what we’re made of. Big THANKS & kudos go to our witty wordsmith, Sara Turpin, for sending out those eagerly anticipated race results! Let’s really give her something to talk about this week. Coaches Corner Up until this past week we have had the opportunity to focus on training and improving ski racing skills without a rigorous race schedule. You have all done a tremendous job training and doing drills that no other team does. The coaches are starting to see the impact those little drills have in your racing. As we enter the most rigorous race schedule MAST has had in a few seasons, remember the drills that help you the most and try to perform them to perfection when warming up for races. Over the next few weeks your time management will become very important. Completing school work, attending practice, tuning skis, spending time with family, and finding time to sleep so you can perform your best can become exhausting. Be productive with the time you’re awake and sleep hard. It was evident this past week at races that some of you did not tune your skis. It is always sad to see racers who should be successful struggle at a race because skis are not sharp. If you are crunched for time, you can get away with not waxing but make sure your skis are sharp. The most important thing in time management is knowing how much time you have. Look back on your goals, look at how much time is left to try and achieve those goals, and know what you need to do to put yourself in the best position to achieve them. If you’re feeling lost or overwhelmed, ask a coach for help. Keep skiing hard the next 4 weeks!
