Hello MAST Family! It feels so great to be back on the snow! The conditions have been excellent despite the white squall on Wednesday evening. Our first Supplemental Training is coming up this Saturday. Links to sign up are below, along with some additional details on what to expect, which can be especially helpful for our new athletes. *Please make an extra effort to read every item in this Update to make sure you’re not missing anything. We will be so happy when we don’t have to say the word ‘waiver’ again. ;) Coaches Corner Keep working hard on the fundamentals as we practice on snow early this season. Each drill has a specific purpose that will help you to excel in skiing, especially when we get into slalom courses. I know these first few weeks can feel tedious as you are anxious to get into gates, but I encourage you to persevere knowing that the hard work we put in now matters and will pay off as we progress through the season. (coach Matthew) Continue to focus on each run, each turn, each movement in building your fundamentals. We have lots of skiing over the next 3 days so keep your boots dry, eat healthy, study hard and tune your skis. We have been cleared to set gates on Monday so we will keep you posted on the need for shin guards. Keep working hard! ACTION ITEMS IN THIS UPDATE:
GUESS WHAT?! We only have a FEW more spots open for Giant’s Ridge! We have extended the registration deadline to this Sunday. Don’t miss out! Our athletes talk about this camp throughout the year and gain so much from it, from the skills they obtain to the relationships they build with their teammates. The experience is priceless. Click HERE for Registration! When: Tuesday, December 31 at 6AM to Friday, January 3 at 10PM. Where: Training at Giants Ridge Recreation Area; Lodging at Camp Chicagami. Transportation: Northfield Lines and Shubat Bus. Meals: Breakfasts and Dinners at Camp Chicagami. Lunches at Giants Ridge. Cost: $650 includes four days of lift tickets, lane fees, training; three nights lodging; three breakfasts, four lunches, three dinners; AWESOME coaching. SATURDAY DEC 7 MORNING PRACTICE - 8:30am Time Change! Arrive at 8:30AM instead of 7:45AM. Calling all volunteer coaches! With many coaches heading to supplemental Saturday afternoon, we need your help at this Saturday morning practice. Please come if you can! SUPPLEMENTAL TRAINING #1 - This Saturday, December 7, 2:30pm-10:30pm There are still spots available to join our first Supplemental Training at Wild Mountain, this Saturday! This training will be focused more on directed free skiing than gate training. Nonetheless, we hope to be able to set some short sectional drill courses of brushes, stubbies and panel gs gates. Attached is the Afton Alps Ski Area waiver form. Get this in by Sunday, please! Please print and sign a hard copy. Bring it to practice, to the Parent Social on Sunday, or drop it off at Bill Bray’s house at 5329 Dupont Ave S, MPLS 55419. We need all of these by Dec. 10 at the latest. Please print clearly.
