FINAL HOURS TO PURCHASE MAST APPAREL in the LIMITED-ITEM, SECOND- CHANCE APPAREL STORE!
You have UNTIL 11:59PM! Follow the link below for jackets, sweatshirts and more with the classic MAST logo! Happy shopping! SECOND-CHANCE MAST APPAREL STORE MAST Update Week 3.2 Wednesday, November 29, 2023 Good Evening MAST Athletes, Parents and Coaches: Hyland sent out our lane assignments this week, which enabled me to assign training times to our pods. We received more lanes at 3:45 than at the 5:30 and 7:15 time slots. Since our Juniors and Seniors (pods 11 and 12) are very large, I am assigning them to the earlier practice time, abandoning my desire to give them one later time slot a week. There are too many of them to only give them one lane for training. Training times for Pods 7-10 jump around a bit more, so please pay careful attention to their schedule. Please do everything you can do to attend your pod's assigned training session. If you have no other choice but to attend a different practice from the one you are assigned, please text or email your head coach for permission. Detailed below is the on-snow training schedule for Friday and Saturday. For both days, meet outside the chalet in front of the center chairlift at the announced practice start time. You do not need your shin guards. Friday 3:45-6:00PM: Pods 10,11,12 5:00-7:15PM: Pods 7,8,9 Saturday 8:45-11:15AM: All Pods Saturday Supplemental Training 2:30-10:30PM at Wild Mt Click Here To Register: Dec 2 Supplemental Training Registration Giants Ridge Camp Registration update: there are roughly four spots open for girls and one for boys. Thank you athletes and coaches for the hard work you put in these past two and a half weeks at dry land training. I saw a lot of improved foot work and movement patterns. I suspect that many of you are in better condition than you were on November 13th. Now we ski. See you Friday. Mark Conway 612-275-8392
Good Afternoon Athletes:
Just a reminder to bring your ski poles to practice today. Do NOT bring them onto the track or turf field. Set them against the fence when you enter through the gate. Make sure that your name is on BOTH poles. If you can't bring your poles, not a big deal. You can still learn the skill and do the work. See you soon. Mark Good Afternoon MAST Skiers:
Just a quick note that we will be training indoors today. ENTER WASHBURN THROUGH DOOR FIVE BY THE DUMPSTERS OFF THE 49TH STREET PARKING LOT. Be sure to wear good athletic shoes and clothing. The plan is for us to move back outdoors for Tuesday and Wednesday, so dress accordingly. I am canceling practice on Thursday so you can organize your ski gear. We will start On Snow Training at Hyland on Friday. Specific training times will be announced tomorrow. See you soon. Mark Happy Late Night MAST Fans! Hello MAST Families! I hope you all had a delightful and filling Thanksgiving! And I hope you're enjoying your new MAST apparel! Thank you to everyone who purchased apparel during the custom store sale. Because of your purchases we earned $1127.00 for MAST! That's some serious shopping. Bravo!
For those of you who inquired about ordering after the store closed, I have good news! Our vendor has generously agreed to open a LIMITED-ITEM, SECOND-CHANCE STORE FOR 3 DAYS! Due to the cost and time it takes to create custom stores (minimums from suppliers, logo set-up, etc.) vendors rarely offer a second custom store or one-off orders. In order to open a second-store we have narrowed it down to items with the classic embroidered MAST skier logo (team jackets, sweatshirts, flannel pants, and more). If you were late to register or didn't get an order in or really want that sweatshirt your sister got, NOW IS YOUR CHANCE! This store is open NOW UNTIL THURSDAY, NOVEMBER 30 at 11:59PM! No exceptions. Delivery will be sometime around the 22nd. I will communicate and coordinate pickups/distribution when I have an exact date. We are very lucky to have this second-chance store, so make it count! Additionally, we have TWO GAITERS that will be available for purchase in Team Snap for $15 each! These are the same weight and style as last year's gaiter, but in two new designs for the 2023-2024 season. Mark will send a link as soon as I (or he and I) can figure out how to set it up on Team Snap. For now: here's the link to the LIMITED-ITEM, SECOND-CHANCE MAST STORE. Ready, set, go! If you have not yet collected your apparel from the original store, please text me to make arrangements. THANK YOU! Best, Coryn Petersen 612.910.2560 MAST Update Week Three
Sunday, November 26, 2023 Good Evening MAST Families: I hope everyone had a wonderful Thanksgiving break. Hyland is blowing thousands of gallons of water into the air every hour as they try to make as much snow as possible during this cold stretch. I received word this morning that they will be closed Monday through Thursday this week and that we should watch for an announcement later in the week regarding their plans for opening. I remain optimistic that they will open on Friday, December 1. If they do, we will ski both Friday afternoon/evening and Saturday morning. I. Dry-land Training Continues Monday through Thursday. 4:30-6PM at Washburn Stadium. Bring a jacket, hat, gloves, athletic shoes, layers of athletic clothing with shorts underneath in case we ending up training inside the school for part or all of the session. Our first Supplemental Training Session will be held on Saturday, December 2 at Wild Mt. This could be our first, second or third training session on-snow, depending on when Hyland opens. Cost: $60 includes bus transportation, coaching, and lift ticket. Bring a water bottle and a sack supper. (We take a short break for supper. We do not want you spending time waiting in line to order ski area dinner so bring your own supper.) Hope you all had a wonderful day with family and friends. For those who want to put in some time understanding the intricate movements patterns of top level alpine ski racers, watch and study the videos linked below. For our coaches and varsity level skiers, be sure to watch the Deb Armstrong video with River Radamus. It is very insightful, not just about technique, but also regarding tactics and how to approach our sport with the proper mental framework. Enjoy. I will be sending out an update on Sunday. Under the lights in the stadium on field turf is an awesome venue for running, cutting, jumping, leaping, striding and hurdling. The athletes put forth great effort. It was fun to watch you improve your footwork and movement patterns. Thank you for giving us your best effort. And on Saturday, we had a great turnout for both retreat sessions. We shared a lot of information and you were terrific participants. Hopefully you found the sessions useful. A big thank you to the coaches for your good work and to all the athletes for your attention and participation. Dry-land Training Continues Monday and Tuesday. 4:30-6PM at Washburn Stadium. Temps will be cooler so no more shorts. Bring hat, gloves and jacket. Once the sun goes down it will get cold quickly. Apparel IS Ready For Pick UP!!! When: Monday and Tuesday at the conclusion of practice (6PM). Where: Look for the off-white Suburban on the East side of the parking lot off 49th Street. If you are out of town on Monday and Tuesday, you will be able to pick up your apparel the week after Thanksgiving. Details to come. Giants Ridge Camp We have 57 athletes registered for camp. If you are planning on attending, please register sooner than later. Registration will close on or before December 1, depending on numbers. Camp Information and Registration Link: Click Here Supplemental Training #1: Saturday, December 2, 2:30-10:30PM. Once we know with certainty that Wild Mt will be open for us to train on December 2nd at Wild, I will send out a link to register. Watch for an email later this week or in the Week Three Update. Sunday, December 3, 7PM: Parent Race Worker Training Webinar Please set this time aside so we can beef up our race day volunteer corp. Attached is a document detailing all the race worker and race official positions with job descriptions. As you can see, it takes A LOT of race workers to hold a WELL RUN race. Do not be intimated by the job descriptions or your lack of experience with ski racing. We will train you. Race workers have a great view of the action and some are right in the middle of the athletes as they prepare for their race runs and cheer on their teammates. Sunday, December 10, 4-7PM: Parent Social at Dual Citizen Brewery Save the Date. Details to come. Since Hyland will not be opening this week, you will have five days off over Thanksgiving break. Sometime on Tuesday I will send you some "homework" to get you ready for getting on snow... I promise it will be fun. I would also strongly encourage you to continue working out over break. Give your body at least thirty minutes of continuous exercise four of the five days: run, hill climbs, bike, circuits. We have some colder temperature moving in. As soon as Hyland opens, we will ski. I look forward to seeing you on Monday and Tuesday at dry-land. Be grateful. Mark
