Act Now If You Want To Participate

Dear MAST Athletes and Parents:
As we discussed at the Mpls Alpine information meeting on Monday evening, the primary fundraiser that MAST has utilized over the past several years to help individuals defray the cost of their team fees was recently discontinued. The MAST Board is working hard to replace the Dunn Brother Coffee Card fundraiser and I have been told that two opportunities will be announced very soon. In the meantime, I would like to again invite those of you who are looking to raise some money to cover a portion of your team fee to consider using the online fundraiser called FlowerPower. Here is how it works.
First, send me an email at firstname.lastname@example.org and tell me that you would like to participate in the FlowerPower Fundraiser. I will add YOU as a team member to the MAST FlowerPower Fundraiser 2013. This will allow purchases that you initiated to be credited directly to you.
Second, as a team member, you can add the names and email addresses of family members, friends, and neighbors who you think might want to purchase some flower bulbs and help you raise money. You can also compose a personal note that explains the fundraiser and your involvement and invites them to support you by purchasing some flower bulbs off the FlowerPower website. You might sweeten the deal and offer your labor to help plant the bulbs when they are shipped directly to the front door of your customer. If you make that offer, you need to be ready to follow through.
Here’s a sample note. Feel free to use this one or compose your own.
Hi: I am joining the downhill racing team at my high school this winter. It is called the Mpls Alpine Ski Team, or MAST. Our team receives no funding from our school district. For this reason the athletes are asked to pay a team fee that partially covers the costs associated with operating the team. In an effort to raise money to cover my team fee, I am participating in a fundraiser through my team and a fundraising organization called Flower Power Fundraising. FlowerPower sells flower bulbs online for fall planting and spring blooming. If you click on the link below, you will be taken to the website of Flower Power Fundraising, in Vermont. The website links you directly to my team’s fundraising account. Once there, you can select the flower bulbs you would most like to see in your garden next spring and place an order. FlowerPower will ship your order directly to your home. Because you used the link I am providing you, your purchase will be credited to me. For every dollar you spend, I receive fifty cents. I really hope you will consider looking at the website and making a purchase of any size. Thank you so much. I am very excited to ski race this winter and I appreciate any help you can give me.

Now, here’s the urgency: this fundraiser ends on October 30. The bulbs need to be shipped and planted before the ground freezes for the winter. That means that if you want to participate, you need to start now… today or tomorrow at the latest. Make a list of family, friends, and neighbors. Collect their email addresses. Go to the MAST FlowerPower Fundraiser 2013 link and start entering names and email addresses. Don’t forget to compose a note and then send the invitations off. You can always add more names as you think of them. The important thing is to get started. Oh, and I almost forgot. You can copy and paste the link to your Facebook page as well. Perhaps a few of your Facebook friends will make a purchase.
Here is that MAST FlowerPowerFundraiser 2013 Link. It is the same as the one supplied in the sample note above.
Once you are a member, I can track your sales through the MAST FlowerPower website/account. Sometime after Oct 30, MAST will receive a check for 50% of all sales made by MAST team members. Once that check arrives, the money you earned from your sales will be credited to your team fee.
Good luck. Don’t hesitate to call me if you have any questions.
