THANK YOU to everyone who helped grill and serve hot dogs at the Pierce Oktoberfest fundraiser. I received a nice note from Bart Pierce complimenting your work and expressing his appreciation for your time.
The Team Gilboa ski swap begins this afternoon at Hyland. This is one of the last opportunities to purchase used equipment in a swap setting. Attached is a flyer. If you still need equipment, I recommend getting there before 5. There is usually a big line at the door when the swap opens for business. The earlier you arrive, the more likely you will find what you need. Remember, we have good information posted on our website about how to select and fit used equipment. I will be at Hyland this evening to help anyone who is looking for equipment. Call my cell phone if you need help: 612-275-8392. Also, we still have equipment for sale on our website. Please complete and email the equipment for sale form if you have equipment you would like to sell. Email to me email@example.com and to webmaster Connie Theien at firstname.lastname@example.org..
Finally, I have a few items sitting in my basement that are left over from the MAST ski swap held two weeks ago. One set of items does not have any identifying marks. Hyland Season Pass Fee Payments
I have a BIG favor to ask. If you have not yet paid for your season pass to Hyland, please do so over the weekend. I am getting on a plane on Wednesday morning to visit the first of many grandchildren I expect to spoil over the last third of my life. She was born last week. If I can collect all the checks this weekend, I will be able to send a check to Hyland before I leave. This will insure that everyone who wants to get in on the $400 season pass rate before it increases to $425 will do so. Attached is a roster of everyone who has paid for a season pass to date—whether it was paid for in the spring or this fall. At this point, it might be fastest to drop the check in my mailbox.

I have credited everyone’s Sports Illustrated Play(SIP) account who worked at the Hoigaard’s Tent Sale. Please check your SIP account to see your credit. When you sign up for supplemental training, camp, or the banquet, you will be prompted to apply the credit to your fee. If you have questions, please call me: 612-275-8392. Attached is a roster and tally of all who worked and how much money was credited to each athlete’s account. Please check for accuracy. If you add it all up, you earned over $2000 in total. Impressive.
CityKids Java INDIVIDUAL Fundraiser
I encourage everyone to sell coffee in the weeks ahead to raise money to pay for supplemental training sessions and camp.
Why CityKids and Why Participate
Good Profit - Earn $4 ~ $6 for every bag the athlete sells. Help pay for supplemental training, Giants Ridge Camp, etc. The money from the sale benefits the INDIVIDUAL athlete, not the team.
Good Coffee – CityKid Java coffee is responsibly sourced, sustainably grown and roasted daily in Northeast Minneapolis in small batches.
The roaster trades directly with coffee growers and brokers, ensuring integrity.
Good Cause - Profit from the coffee company (CityKid Java) helps after-school mentoring and sports programs in the Central & Philips neighborhoods
Good for Everyone – who doesn’t drink coffee or hot chocolate? Makes a great gift for holiday season.
What We Are Selling
Coffee – Buy for $6.50 per bag, sell for $12 (earn $5.50 per bag). Offer 3 varieties: French Roast, CityKid Java Blend, Highlander Grogg (descriptions on the sales sheet/ordering form)
Cocoa – Buy $4.00 per bag, sell for $8.00 (earn $4 per bag)
Chocolate Covered Espresso Beans – Buy for $4.00 per bag, sell for $8.00 (earn $4 per bag)

Up Next: Parent Social and Ski Race Training Event
On Sunday, October 29th from 3:00-6:30, PARENTS are invited to gather at the Tanner’s home on Cedar Lake for an afternoon of mingling and alpine racing education. We will be holding the first annual MAST Chili Cook-Off. Beverages will be served. And workshops will be offered on a variety of interesting and fun topics that will help you understand the sport of ski racing and prepare you to assist your athlete so that he or she can get the most out of our program. More details coming soon. For now, reserve the afternoon of Oct 29. You won’t want to miss it!
Athletes: Prepare for Dryland NOW!
Don’t wait until November 14 (our first afternoon of MAST dryland) to start getting your muscles in shape for the season. Start now. Run the lake. Bike the lakes. In line skate. Work your core. Run stairs or hills—there is a steep set on the south end of Lake Harriet and another on the south end of Lake Nokomis. There is another long, steep set on the east side of Minnehaha Falls park. Bike to the Falls and then run the stairs. Run the hill at Beard’s. Bike the hill on Harriet Ave from the creek up to the water tower. So many options… just get out and do it. Wouldn’t that make a great slogan for a sportswear company? And remember to wear a helmet when biking or skating and have fun.
Have a great weekend.
